Documentation
This template is designed to be used for the <ꞌ> letter in Kusaal, and keeping it distinct from punctuation marks. Using it can prevent conflicting Unicode characters from being used on different articles: All articles that use this template will have the same letter. If consensus changes on which Unicode character should be used on Kusaal Wikipedia, it's only necessary to change this template, and all articles that use it will be immediately updated.
This template does not work in page names or in redirects.
The straight apostrophe letter provided by Unicode is U+A78C LATIN SMALL LETTER SALTILLO, <ꞌ>. It looks like the <'> on the keyboard, but behaves like a letter in electronic text: It will not create line breaks in the middle of a word, and will not interfere with the Wikipedia code of double-' for italic text and triple-' for bold text.
The curly (9 shape) apostrophe letter is U+02BC MODIFIER LETTER APOSTROPHE, <ʼ>. This matches what is seen in some print publications. It looks like a curly quotation mark, but it behaves like a letter.
If people decide that Kusaal Wikipedia should just use the <'> character from the keyboard, this template would still be useful, as editors could quickly see which <'> are orthographic, and which are punctuation. It would also prevent interference of the letter <ꞌ> with bold and italic text.
